Why the SSTeF Was Founded<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tFriulian language and culture can grow only if Friulian becomes a means of communication for one of the defining features of modern society: science. Although the international scientific community uses English as its common language, national languages are still widely employed in many countries for teaching and for the development of science and technology. It is on the basis of this conviction that the SSTeF was founded.

The SSTeF is an independent association composed of researchers, scholars, and professionals working in various scientific and technological fields who are committed to the development of the Friulian language and culture. Its aim is to promote research and the dissemination of knowledge in Friulian. The SSTeF supports projects involving the application of information technology to Friulian; it carries out activities to study, safeguard, and promote biodiversity in the Friulian region; it supports the publication of scholarly books in Friulian and their translation into English; it awards scholarships to researchers who wish to publish their studies in Friulian as well; and it collaborates with Friulian institutions and companies engaged in scientific and technological research.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThe SSTeF carries out research and knowledge\u2011dissemination activities primarily in Friuli, while also supporting initiatives in other regions and countries. Its work focuses on the following areas:

  • Exact sciences<\/strong>\u00a0(mathematics, computer science, physics, statistics, etc.)<\/em><\/li>\r\n \t

  • Health sciences<\/strong>\u00a0(medicine, veterinary science, pharmacy, etc.)<\/em><\/li>\r\n \t
  • Technological sciences<\/strong>\u00a0(engineering, the agro\u2011food sector, architecture, etc.)<\/em><\/li>\r\n \t
  • Economic, social, and humanistic disciplines approached scientifically<\/strong>\u00a0(economics, management, sociology, linguistics, applied linguistics, anthropology, archaeology, legal studies, etc.)<\/em><\/li>\r\n \t

    Publications<\/b>
    The SSTeF publishes the\u00a0Gjorn\u00e2l Furlan des Siencis \/ Friulian Journal of Science<\/em>, a Friulian\u2013English scientific journal that accepts both original research articles and less specialized contributions on advanced scientific and technological topics. All papers are available in both languages.
    In addition, the SSTeF publishes scholarly books and handbooks, both monolingual (in Friulian) and bilingual (Friulian\/English).

    Annual Conference<\/b>
